What will on-campus classes look like this spring?
- You will need to verify that you have no COVID-19-related symptoms using a screening tool that will be provided.
- Social distancing practices will be in place.
- You will be required to wear a mask while on campus in hallways and in public areas, and when you’re unable to social distance.
Students who believe they should be considered for an exception to this requirement should contact Accessibility Resources.
Questions you may be asking:
When a course that you’re enrolled in changes delivery type, you will receive an automatic email. You will also see the change on your class schedule in E-Services (SpartanNet>E-Services>Courses & Registration>View/Modify Schedule) and on the M State Class Schedule page. The change will be listed under the course title.
No, if you have tested positive for COVID-19, you must separate yourself from others and watch yourself for symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, headache, muscle pain, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell. This is to protect yourself, your family and your community.
Stay home until all three of these things are true:
- You feel better
- Your cough, shortness of breath or other symptoms are better
- It has been 10 days since you first felt sick
If you are in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 (within six feet for 15 minutes), you must separate yourself from others, get tested and watch yourself for symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, headache, muscle pain, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell. Follow these instructions for at least 14 days after the last day you were in close contact with the person who has COVID-19.
M State is currently working on how to handle positive tests and quarantine protocols.

All courses that were originally scheduled to be delivered on a campus will continue to be charged the tuition rate of $165.50 per credit for Spring 2021, even if they now will be delivered online or in a blended format.
Some courses will have multiple choices for delivery options or instructors. Others have only a single delivery option in order to maintain health and safety goals while meeting the course outcomes.
New students, please work with your advisor to choose the course delivery option that best suits your needs as a learner.
Returning students, please check your existing schedule in eServices. Depending on the course, you may be able to make changes to your schedule to arrange the option that is best for you. Reach out to your advisor or access the Virtual Adivising room from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for assistance in changing your schedule.
Remote/Online Proctored tests are timed exams that you take while proctoring software monitors your computer's desktop, webcam video and audio. The data recorded by the proctoring software is transferred to a proctoring service for review. Proctored exams may or may not be required for your course and enrollment track. It is free for you to use and your faculty will inform you of this requirement if it applies to any of your courses. M State’s remote proctoring platform has the following technical requirements:
- Windows: 10, 8, 7
- Mac: OS X 10.12 or higher
- iOS: 10.0+ (iPad only). Must have a compatible LMS integration. Details.
- Web camera (internal or external) & microphone
- A broadband internet connection
If you have questions, please reach out to the Computer Help Center for assistance.
To support our students, faculty and staff in moving forward amid the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, M State commits to continuing to provide safe spaces where learning, teaching, serving and working together can thrive. https://www.minnesota.edu/coronavirus/return-to-campus-plan
Face masks/coverings must be worn by all students and members of the public at all times on campus in public settings (e.g., common work spaces, public spaces, hallways, stairwells, elevators, meeting rooms, classrooms, break rooms, in restrooms, etc.). https://www.minnesota.edu/coronavirus/return-to-campus-plan/facility-safety-protocols
Students with a documented disability that interferes with the ability to wear a face mask should contact the Accessibility Resources office on their campus to discuss alternatives. Examples of alternatives may include a face shield or alternative face covering or exploration of equivalent courses offered at a distance, however for the safety of all of our campus community this does not excuse a student from wearing a face covering while in the areas described above.
