Hello everyone, I am new to the forum but not new to Macs.
I have a MacBook Pro (purchased late 2009) and I am running Mac OS Snow, I have a partition running Windows 7 Ultimate (runs fairly well).
I have been trying to get Ubuntu 10.4 running on it (triple boot), I found this tutorial which is pretty well written: How to Triple-Boot Your Mac with Windows and Linux, No Boot Camp Required - Triple Boot - Lifehacker
I could not get Ubuntu running on it, it goes through the entire install, at the very end, something fails, the CD is ejected, get error message, press any key, reboots. I then choose Linux (Ubuntu) upon boot up and it fails, error msg 'No operating system found' (or something like that).
Anyway, I decided to try to install BackTrack 4 Final instead on that same partition, and that fails too.
Has anyone successfully installed either Ubuntu or BackTrack?
I would very much appreciate any feedback... thanks!
  • The last time I saw this posted I installed it on 2 computers. One was running Mac OS 10.8.1, the other BackTrack 5r2. I have it installed on both and the command xiki-status returns 'running' but I have not got it properly implemented in any text editor. I have tried in emacs and vim on both.
  • Feb 11, 2021 The BackTrack D-TOUR uses a blend of new technologies with GPS technology. Using military GPS satellites, the D-TOUR re-calculates your position every two seconds, telling you how far you’ve traveled from your original destination. Activate the trip logging function and it will record your trip route. After your trip is over, you can use the free D-TOUR software application to view, analyze and share the data collected during your trips.
A perfect way to know what other users do with your computer is to use a keylogger such as BackTrack.
The objective of the application is none other than to note down everything that is typed on the computer.
BackTrack uses a MySQL database to store the information. Each registry stores information such as the time at which the text was typed, the name of the application that was being used at that time, and the text itself.
It can also be used as a safety tool for unexpected system crashes. Imagine you've lost a document while you were working and you didn’t have time to save it. Well, the BackTrack registry almost certainly saved it on time.
BackTrack doesn’t work on passwords or on Classic environment applications. The text saved is unformatted, as it only saves plain text.

This is the OFFICIAL video that teaches you how to install backtrack 5 on your mac. In this video I will be using VMWarefusion instead of virtual box. BackTrack was an open source Linux distribution that could be used by security professionals for penetration testing and digital forensics tasks in a native computing environment dedicated to hacking. It has been officially discontinued in February 2014. Distributed as 32-bit/64-bit Live DVDs with. Record & save past audio with a click. Local audio recorder that lets you save audio your mic heard in the past.
